At Coast Hand Therapy we are passionate about helping you get back to doing the things you love, and the things you need to do. We understand how frustrating, limiting and stressful an injury can be. 

Coast Hand Therapy provides specialist Physiotherapy assessment and treatment for injuries and conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. 

We can help with a wide range of injuries with people of all ages. You will receive an individualised service that meets your specific needs.

What is a hand therapist?

A hand therapist is a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who has undergone extensive post graduate training to specialise in assessment and treatment of the hand and upper limb.

Can I make an appointment without a referral?

Yes - you are welcome to book in without a referral. Click here to book online.

Can I make an appointment even if I haven’t lodged a claim with ACC yet?

Yes - we are able to do this with you at your initial assessment. We may ask some questions over the phone before your appointment to help determine if it is appropriate to lodge a claim with ACC. Feel free to call and discuss if you have any questions.

What do I bring to my appointment?

Any relevant paperwork you may have such as a referral if you have one. Don’t worry if you forget- we will make sure we get all the information we need to make sure you get the right treatment.

If you have had X Rays or imaging done at one of the private providers in Tauranga we are able to access these online so there is no need to bring these in.

Will there be any additional costs?

If your injury is under ACC the cost of any splints you might need are covered.

There may be some small additional charges for strapping or exercise equipment that can be discussed at the time with your therapist.

If you are covered by health insurance you may be able to be reimbursed by your insurance company for your appointment and / or splint costs.

If you are paying for splints privately your therapist will discuss options and pricing with you at your appointment.

Do you treat children?

Yes - we offer treatment for people of all ages.

How long are the appointments?

Your first appointment will be approximately 45 minutes long. Follow up appointments are no longer than 30 minutes.

Health Insurance

If you have health insurance you may be able to get reimbursed for your treatment dependant on your policy.

Payment & Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 24 hours notice.
No accounts held. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.
Accepted form of payment: cash, credit card, eftpos.

About

Graduating as a Physiotherapist in 2000, Nicola enjoys working in the area of Hand Therapy and is passionate about providing an excellent service to ensure her patients achieve the best outcomes from treatment.

Nicola has extensive experience working in a wide range of areas of Physiotherapy. She has worked in paediatrics, spinal cord injury rehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation. She is well equipped to manage a wide range of conditions of the hand.

Understanding your work demands and what you enjoy doing in your spare time is important to Nicola, and will be an integral part of your hand therapy.  

Nicola herself loves training at the gym, trail running, mountain biking and most of all kite surfing and stand up paddleboarding - when she’s not too busy running around after her two very active boys!
